This is not a full-fledged post, just a snark .... but, hey, everyone enjoys a good snark now and then, right?
Yesterday I surfed over to Cosmic Variance to see what was new in the world of science, and found this rant about this article in the Times Higher Education Supplement.
Where do I even begin? Is this guy for real? No, seriously. I mean that. I'm still half-convinced that this must be some kind of fiendishly clever anticipatory April Fool's Day joke.
But apparently not.
Anyway, if you're in a snarky mood this will give you a good laugh or two. Especially if you have any familiarity with dark matter research, or gravitational lensing, or string theory, or relativity, or ... the scientific method, higher mathematics, or ... well ... anything involving logic and reason, actually.
I highly recommend that you dip into the comments as well. Some of them are even funnier than the actual article .... which is saying something.
As one of the commenters observed: a target-rich environment.
